About SavoryTribe
SavoryTribe started because the same conversion question kept getting a different answer depending on which site I checked. So I built calculators that don’t guess, and the guides to back them up. Here’s how it actually works.

I’m Abdul Mateen. I build and write everything on SavoryTribe myself — the calculators, the guides, the data behind both. I’m not coming at this as an expert. I’m a newer baker, still learning and still getting things wrong in the kitchen, and that’s actually why this site exists — almost every tool here started as something that tripped me up first.
The Ingredient Converter exists because I got a recipe wrong assuming a cup of honey and a cup of flour weighed the same — they don’t, not even close. The Meat Temperature Guide exists because “cook until done” meant nothing to me the first dozen times I tried. If a tool is here, it’s because I needed it myself and couldn’t find one that actually answered the question.
Being new is exactly why I don’t rely on my own gut feel for the numbers. Every guide gets checked against an established source before it’s published — USDA guidelines for anything involving meat, eggs, or storage times, and recognized culinary standards for everything else. If a number can’t be sourced or tested, it doesn’t go on the site.
What SavoryTribe Actually Is
SavoryTribe isn’t a recipe blog. It’s a set of free kitchen calculators, built to handle the math and the food-safety questions most recipes skip — backed by guides that explain the reasoning behind every number, not just the number itself.
Every calculator is free, with no account, no email wall, and no premium tier hiding the result you actually came for. The guides exist to answer the “why” — why 165°F isn’t negotiable for chicken, why a cup of cake flour isn’t a cup of bread flour, why the fridge is usually the safest way to defrost something even though it’s the slowest.
If something on this site is wrong, confusing, or just doesn’t work the way it should — tell me. I’d rather fix it than leave it.
